Position paper: EU Circular Economy Act
10 maart 2026
The Dutch Banking Association welcomes the Europeans Commission’s initiative for a Circular Economy Act (CEA). Reaching a circular economy by 2050 requires robust circular business cases and reliable data to ensure that financial and operational risks remain manageable for entrepreneurs and banks. Geopolitical tensions and growing resource scarcity highlight the urgency of reducing primary material use and prioritizing circular strategies such as reduce, reuse, redesign, repair and recycling. More efficient use of finite resources increases resilience, helps decarbonise the industry, reduces the use of fresh water, combats biodiversity loss and secures Europe’s long-term economic development.
